What are Wildlights?

Wildlings are my feminine forest spirits: hand-cut figures that live within the Wildlights. Each one represents a different kind of energy: grounded, wild, nurturing, or fierce.

Are your works made from real leaves?

Yes, every leaf is real and gathered with care. They are mostly from around Ōhope, where I live. I use naturally fallen leaves or prune gently from trees that thrive again.

Are all the lights one-of-a-kind?

Always. No two leaves or pours of resin ever behave the same, and that’s part of the magic. Each piece holds its own mood and story.

What inspired you to start making these?

I wanted to create something that held light in the same way the forest does; where nature and art meet. It began with stained-glass experiments and slowly evolved into light sculptures.

What kind of lighting do you use?

Each Wildlight has an energy-efficient LED strip with adjustable brightness and warmth. Many connect to smart apps like Grid Connect so you can control them easily.

Can they stay on all the time?

Yes! They stay cool and safe to touch. The LEDs are long-lasting and designed for ambient use.

Can they be plugged in anywhere?

They come with a standard wall plug and optional extension leads so you can position them easily.

Are they weatherproof or safe for bathrooms?

Yes, the resin and LED system are sealed, so they can be displayed outdoors under shelter or in steamy spaces like bathrooms.

What are the frames made from?

My frames are made by a professional framer in Tauranga using New Zealand timbers like Rimu and Pine, hand-finished with natural oils for a warm glow that complements the light.

Can I commission a custom piece?

Absolutely. You can choose size, leaf type, colours, and even the Wildling pose or energy you’d like represented.

Can I send you special leaves or flowers?

Yes! Many people send me foliage from their gardens or trees that have meaning to them, it’s a beautiful way to make the piece personal.

Can you match colours or themes to my space?

Definitely. I often work with clients to find the right light tone and palette to complement their home or gallery.

Can it hang or stand?

They can do both. They all have a folding stand so they can sit on the floor or this can fold away so they can hang with the included hanging system.

Are your materials environmentally friendly?

As much as possible. I use sustainably sourced timber and local natural materials.

Do you pick or gather the leaves?

Mostly I collect fallen leaves. Sometimes I prune from my own trees or native plantings when needed.

Do you ship within New Zealand?

Yes, safely and securely. Each piece is wrapped, cushioned, and boxed to protect it in transit.
